FAQs

What is the difference between Beginner and Experienced level athletes?

We define these skill levels on the Play page of our website as follows:

  • Beginner level athletes have experience playing YMCA/Rec volleyball, or they have never played before. They are still learning to overhand serve consistently, use all three contacts to rally back and forth over the net, and other foundational volleyball concepts like rotations/positions.
  • Experienced level athletes have played at least one season on a Region level club team and/or school team. They are able to serve overhand consistently and use all three contacts to rally. They have played on a team that uses rotations (4-2, 6-2, 5-1) and designates specific position(s) for each player.

Who coaches the teams?

Our professional Club One coaches run every team practice, with one Program Lead designing the training and instructional plan for all teams.

How many games are there?

There will be four games this season (one per week). Teams will be split in half on game days to play against either the other half of their team or members of another team within the Fall League.

Are there starters and non-starters?

Our Rec program is all about skill development, so athletes will be rotated equally during games so they each have the opportunity to practice their skills in a competitive setting.

Are parents allowed to watch practices?

Yes, parents are allowed to watch practices and games! They are permitted to sit in the center of the gym, not against the walls or in between courts.

Where are the practices and games located?

All practices and games take place at Court One Athletics, 9100 S McKemy St, Tempe, AZ 85284. This is the same facility where our club teams practice during club volleyball season.

Do athletes receive uniforms?

Upon completion of season payment, each athlete will receive a Club One t-shirt that they will wear at games with their teammates!
